The mission statement of the Elgin Ambulance Service is to provide the highest standard of emergency medical care, transport to a medical facility, educate the community regarding First Aid and CPR, and operate the service in accordance with state and national standards.

The Elgin Volunteer Ambulance Service was established in 1964.  We provide BLS services to the cities of Elgin, Millville, Hammond, Potsdam and the north section of Viola.  We also cover the townships of Elgin, Oakwood, Hyde Park, Zumbro, Viola, Farmington and Haverhill, and the surrounding areas in the counties of Wabasha and Olmsted.  Gold Cross Rochester and Mayo One supply ALS services when needed to the area.

The crew currently consists of 23 volunteers including 17 EMTs, 2 First Responders, 2 Paramedics, 1 Nurse/EMT and 1 Nurse Practitioner/EMT.

Elgin Ambulance is also a training program and provides EMT, EMR (FR), FA and CPR classes.

Elgin Ambulance also has a disaster trailer with enough equipment for 20 people and the setup of a command post.
