Information about the Blooming Prairie Ambulance:
Blooming Prairie Ambulance is a BLS service, and has been in operation since 1974. As of right now, our service has 12 EMT's and 2 drivers that respond to approximately 240 calls a year. We work closely with the Blooming Prairie Police Department, as well as the Sheriff Offices in Steele, Freeborn, Mower and Dodge Counties. We also work with the Blooming Prairie Fire Department as well as with other surrounding community emergency services. Our service area is unique, because Blooming Prairie is located at the corner of four different counties.
We have two ambulance units that serve the City of Blooming Prairie and surrounding area. We carry medications for all types of calls, including epinephrine & benedryl for allergic reactions, albuterol for respiratory illnesses, glucagon for diabetic emergencies, nitro for cardiac problems, and we administer I.V.'s, C-PAP along with advanced airways. Each ambulance is also equipped with a Physio-Control Lifepak 12 AED for cardiac arrest emergencies.
We accepted delivery of of a new ambulance this past year, and are currently designing and planning for the construction of a new ambulance facility.
